Phiten had a roster of NBA pros and a new athletic bracelet to introduce to the world. And since the NBA was on strike, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Eric Gordon and Derrick Williams had some time on their hands. So we sent them back to school.

We worked with SoCal based rap trio, Pac Div, to write and record an original song that traced the history of bling through the ages – and positioned Phiten as the next big thing.

Thanks to the power of clever rhymes, scantily-clad females and historical figures who make it rain, our hip-hop history lesson has educated over half a million people on YouTube.

Whether you were a kid or a comic book store owner, Skylanders were the toys to have for Christmas 2011. The cool factor came from the game’s collectible plastic figures you placed on a special pedestal to bring them to life in the game.

Since using actual toys to play a video game was so original, we wanted the site to mimic the mechanics of how the system worked. Set in a kid’s bedroom, the user simply dragged each character onto the portal to be transported into an immersive world where the toy was now a living, breathing creature.

Once in Skyland, you could get up close and personal with each character – watching game footage and learning about their powers, weapons and backstory. Check it out our handiwork at skylanders.com

This site won a 2011 Pixel Award.

Utility Foundation is a nonprofit I co-founded with three of my close friends. Basically, our mission is to help other nonprofits fulfill their mission. We focus our efforts on smaller nonprofits people might not be familiar with and host events, hold fundraisers and raise awareness on their behalf.

Working on the Utility Foundation means I get to touch a little bit of everything. From social media outreach to marketing materials to planning our events – I’m the best client I’ve ever had.

Check out the goodness we’re spreading at utilityfoundation.org.

iPad App

Walt Disney World is enormous – something like 50 square miles of perfectly planned happiness. To help families plan their vacation before they arrive, Disney has a DVD with hours of footage that covers every theme park, attraction and hotel. Disney asked us to create an iPad app using their existing DVD content.

The last thing we wanted to do was build a video player where users just passively watched video. Instead, our idea was to create a Magic Mirror to be a portal into the many lands of Walt Disney World. As the user commanded the mirror, it would conjure up the videos, photos and travel tips from the DVD.

To give the mirror personality, we used Tinker Bell and Snow White’s Man in the Mirror to be hosts. Each character reacted to what the user was doing and helped guide them from section to section. We worked with Disney’s character department to record all kinds of VO for the Man in the Mirror and used 3D models of the mirror and Tinker Bell to give the app just the right amount of Disney magic.

Unfortunately, the Magic Mirror isn’t in iTunes anymore and all I have are these comps. Guess that’s where your imagination comes in.

I’ve been told buying makeup is complicated and confusing. I wouldn’t know – I don’t shop for it because I’m always out in the garage working on vintage muscle cars, doing taxidermy and lifting dangerous, extremely heavy objects.

But when Bare Escentuals wanted to create a shopping wizard to help simplify the gift giving process, I decided to put down my bowie knife and help out.

The result was this nifty tool that reads like a Mad Libs story. As the user moves through each field, it builds into a cute little narrative describing the person they’re shopping for.

The Ape Escape franchise is about monkeys who are hellbent on taking over the world. We created a website that gave fans a taste of what life would be like if they actually succeeded.

Our main goal was to encourage gamers to contribute their own content – so we had several sections where users could create their own monkey-themed content, post it to galleries and send it to friends. Sadly, MonkeyTown.tv was up for a year, and then the humans took it down.

This site won a Bronze ADDY in 2007.

We shot this trailer to drive people to the Simian Cinema section of the website. Not surprisingly, monkey actors are easier to work with then their human counterparts.
